About Synthetic: For over a decade, Synthetic has been specialising in graphics-intensive and effects-intensive work, such as TV and cinema commercials and title sequences, with an emphasis on design, creativity and quality. Synthetic uses Apple Mac workstations and Adobe software for motion graphics and post-production.

About me: My name is Harriet Thompson (often shortened to "H"), and I've been in business as "Synthetic" since 1997. I'm an experienced motion graphics artist and off-line/on-line editor. My background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film, a B.Sc. in Maths, four years editing news and current affairs for TVNZ, and two years at Terabyte Interactive, specialising in digital video and motion graphics for CD-ROM and other interactive multimedia.

I have a strong combination of creative abilities, technical skills, and storytelling know-how. I run Synthetic on my own. I am equally at home either working under direction, or handling the concept and design, through to finished product by myself.
